I'm a really big believer in the importance of documenting the whole wedding experience. Not just the end of hair and makeup to the grand exit like has become traditional, but really diving in, getting to know the couple, the family, their values, their relationships... A huge part of the way I do this is by working with my couples on "full weekend coverage". But it really starts long before the wedding weekend. Typically by the time we arrive at the wedding weekend we've done an engagement session(s), sometimes in their wedding destination and another wherever is most meaningful to them, a bridal session and a few other meetings. But by far the best and most important pre-wedding event is the rehearsal dinner. It's the place where all of your closest friends and family have gathered to tell stories and  raise their glasses in toast to your new beginning. It's also the place where the families are meeting each other. It's such a moment rich environment and isn't bogged down by as many traditions as the wedding day. To me it's crazy that people don't take the steps necessary to remember this important part of the wedding and so when I sit down with potential couples to work with it's one of the first things I talk about. So let's work harder to remember it all.. not just the typical.
